B.Sawyer & Nellie Duncan. Restore and tidy please
« on: Tuesday 18 June 19 11:23 BST (UK) »
Two Pupils from Harvington School, London .  I would guess early 1900's.  A house in school was named after Nellie Duncan in her memory.  After leaving school she died of typhoid after joining her father in Chile.

I have a perfect  head and shoulders pic of her and need advice .  The pic has been stuck on brown paper, luckily with her name.  I can peel back  a little at top and there is writing on back of card.  How can I remove paper.  I tried steam from kettle on another pic not good result.

The writing is probably just information from the photographer.
The photo would have been attached to the card pre sale.
Best to leave it alone.

Thanks, but what I can see of the writing its blue ink  and  I can just make out the nc in Duncan right at the top, was maybe hoping for more information. Doesnt look like a photographers backing.

I have another pic  stuck on brown paper inscribed "The Kennedy family" on it.  2 girls and a boy who went to the Harvington School.  A house was named after a Majorie Kennedy who achieved her Cambridge Higher Local Certificate in 1911 .  This is one I tried steaming it revealed  Kennedy on far right and what I think are christian names.   Unfortunately after steaming when I peeled the brown paper off  some bits of the white photo back stuck.   Its frustrating and am tempted to have another go. Perhaps I didnt   steam enough .

;D ;D ; I did it.  Removed the paper from back of pics. . All that was on back of this one was her name :'(
But the other came up trumps, the 3 christian names I was hoping for  ;D ;D

Used a damp cloth, paperweight and small spatula .

Not much time these days to work on the images, but gave it a go for a basic cleanup. Hope you enjoy!
I just like to do photo restores.
