George Uriah Grey Chisholm

I am seeking information on George Uriah Grey Chisholm.  He left Jamaica to settle in South Africa where he married Gwendolyn Iffey a South African woman.  I have found his marriage and death certificate but I have not been able to find any information on his children and other descendants.  I am hoping someone here have come across this information and able to assist.

Thanks for your reply. I have his death certificate and the names of his children. I am seeking additional information on them and any other descendants. I don’t believe Gwendolyn Iffey was there mother based on the probate records.

Reading that will it's more likely he was not the father and they were her children as the will says "should the husband survive the wife he will undertake the care of the surviving children of the said Gwendoline" in which case I think their surname would be either Adonis or Iffley.  Looking at their marriage record it states she is a Widow and he was a divorcee - so I am sure now the children would be Adonis

It is possible she had children with Adonis as she was age 30 at the time of their marriage - cant see any indexed baptisms for them - and unfortunately he does not leave an estate

gmauchan,  Gwendolyn was married twice prior to marrying my grand uncle. The children she had was with her second husband if memory serves me correctly. Iffey is her maiden name and Paulson and Adonis are her married names. George was married prior to marrying Gwendolyn and I am trying to find out what happened to his first wife and if they had any children. On his marriage certificate to Gwendolyn it appears he had to receive a clearance from the court in regards to his first marriage, prior to marrying Gwendolyn.

Priscilla, yes I did see the posting by Micah Chisholm and have attempted to contact him. I have not received a response.

Another probable daughter.
Isabella Kleintje (nee Chisholm) b abt 1906/7 Cape Town, d 29 Jun 1926.
Her usual residence is the same as the one in George’s marriage registration.
(Note: A 1906/7 birth would indicate that his first marriage could have taken place before this)

Hi TreeSpirit,

I will review the document of Isabella closer.  Dorothea could not be the mother as she died in 1904 while Isabella is indicated as being born in 1907.  Thanks for checking as this is a roadblock for me.
