One thing to be aware of is the wide range for any relationship. Also half cousins and children of 'close' marriages range widely. Best, imo, is to attempt to build an accurate tree based upon substantive records although not all reflect what actually happened in BMD and census events.

This particular family doesn't link to my tree but because a lady who matches them and myself only had 1 possible Scottish great grandparent that would explain her 13percent Scottish ethnicity and the link to my 96percent ethnic Scottish aunt we know that the link is thru Silas mcmartin line
The lady's grandfather was adopted but she has larger links to a particular branch of this family ..we have been able to pinpoint the adoptees grandfather and that one of his children was the birthparent

The Scottish Canadian connection is thru  a miner who went to Canada and brought back gold
Did he have a child that was adopted out there ...don't know yet but are getting closer to the truth ( the fourth cousin amount is more likely to be a half second cousin once or twice removed
