Moor Hall, Cookham
« on: Tuesday 14 May 19 11:28 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know the outcome of the destination of the Moor Hall documents (1935) purchased a few years back? There was a mention in a thread of the funeral of the then owner Mrs Florence Isabel Barnard and a letter to/from Mrs Whitham at Angelsea Barracks, Hobart, Tasmania. Perhaps there is some sort of archival office at Moor Hall now or a nearby heritage centre?
Any help or hints would be much appreciated.

The post https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=232817.msg5921782#msg5921782 by palwing50  says "I have no direct link to Cookham or Moor Hall, but have recently purchased, at auction, a lot of documentation regarding Moor Hall from February 1935."

So you should contact the poster. After you have made 3 posts you can send a private message, although the poster has not been active since 30 March 2016.

Yes thanks Stan, I was aware of that, but given that the poster is long absent, and that I have not made 3 posts yet, I thought I'd try this first.

Hi. Yes, it was ME! I sent the documents you mention to the Hall, as I thought that was the best place for them. The person I dealt with (not sure of the name) was very interested in the documents and I am sure they will have been well looked after. There was mention that some of the documents may be framed and mounted as a conversation piece. I suggest contacting the Hall and see if they can help? Hope this helps you. Kind regards.

I have sent you a private message....it would help if I was able to use your actual name in my correspondence with them. You didn't keep any copies did you??

Hi jamwaj

Sorry, I did not keep any copies of the documentation. If you contact the person I mentioned in my private message to you, I am sure she will help. Regards and good luck.

My mother and her siblings lived in Moor Hall.  I believe my grandfather Conrad Dewey and grandmother Claudia Dewey rented it during the 40s but I can't tell the exact timeline.  I have several pictures of my grandparents there.  My mother Winifred Dewey was engaged to a RAF pilot while she lived there so it must have been during WWII.  Anybody have information about this time?

Hi, I think my grandma may have been at Moor Hall too in the 50s, her name was Doris Lacey, and if it was her she would have been there from aged 14-15. The dates are registered in the electorol roll as her living there between 1952-1962. I wonder if it was a boarding school or training college or hotel at the time. Any information would be helpful as I'm sure its her.

When was your Doris Lacey born.  In the 1950's she would have to be 21 and over to appear on the electoral register
