Selina Lunn Smethwick
« on: Monday 15 August 05 21:24 BST (UK) »
I am looking for information on Selina Lunn born about 1840-41 in Smethwick, Staffordshire. Her parents possibly John Lunn and Ann. Selina married Robert Tipper about 1862. They came to US in 1863 with 2 children Robert and Elizabeth. Anybody have any information on Lunn family?

Andrea

Hi Andrea,

This may not help you with her parents but might be the household in 1861:

North Harborne, Staffordshire
(Registration District Kings Norton)

Oldbury Road

Robert Tipper, head, 21, Glues Maker, b. Nottinghamshire Radford

Do you know the Westmidlands BMD site? Might be worth checking http://www.bmsgh.org/wmbmd/

Tanja,
Thank you for information. The 1861 census info I did have and these are the ancestors I am looking for. I did not know about the Westlands BMD site. I will look into that. The information from freebmd.rootsweb.com is most likely Selina I am searching for. I can order a copy of her birth certificate from that.
Thank you again,
Andrea

This is correct family. I did not know where Thomas Tipper was born so this helps quite a bit. Robert was born in Radford about 1841 but 1841 census did not show where his father was born. There is a mention of glass works as occupation in both Lunn and Tipper families and this also points to them being my ancestors. Robert Tipper worked as glass maker, his son Joseph worked as glass maker, his son David (my great grandfather) worked as glass maker.
Thank you,
Andrea
