The marriage to Harriett Elizabeth was in Wallingford in 1866, did he marry his late wife’s sister or cousin.

No nearer to finding Clara, but she surely must have a connection to this family, Maybe one of the wives brought her into the marriage and she took the surname Budd

I have found a Clara Agnes Brooker, born Wantage RD in Q2 1860. This would make her just 17 at the time of marriage. I will look for more evidence!

Clara Agnes Budd married John William Godfrey in London in 1877. Various censuses give her place of birth as Faringdon (then in Berkshire). Her father was William, a carpenter. I have had no luck tracing the family in Faringdon!

Someone was asking the same question on Facebook recently.  I looked on the Oxfordshire Family History Society's CD containing Faringdon PRs, but there's no BUDD listed.  The churchyard of All Saints has no MI for that name either.

Clara Agnes Brooker was in 1871 at Worth in Sussex with her grandparents John and Ann Brooker, both born in Sussex. Clara was said to be born in Childrey, in the Vale of the White Horse. I have not found the 1861 Census. There is no Brooker / Budd marriage on free bmds but I think this is the right Clara. Time will tell. I have good memories of visiting Woolstone.

Hi the mothers maiden name of the Clara Agnes Brooker was Singer, a Thomas Brooker married an Eliza Singer 1856 Bath and Clara A is on 1861 RG09/736/132/17

Clara Agness Brooker married Edwin Brinkhurst June.qtr.1877 East Grinstead.

1881 census shows her bc.1860 Berkshire.
