Isaac Garman married Isabel Rushworth 1887 Barnsley so looks like the surname on the 1898 baptism has been written incorrectly and should be Garman not Garner.

James Garner m Frances Mary Eley Q3 1897 Sheffield.  Edward given as age 10 in 1911 born Sheffield.

No apparent Great War service records for an Edward Garner of Barnsley (or Sheffield).

IF he joined in 1914 and went overseas there would be a medal record.  IF he joined and his age was later discovered he would either have been thrown out or retained in UK as under age for overseas, again no medal record.

All a bit shaky from the military records standpoint.

Born 6 August 1900.

Served in KOYLI c1917 onwards - saw overseas service in France, India, Mesopotamia.

Married in 1925 (to Ethel Cliff, in Lincoln, by the looks of it).

Died on active service in Alexandria, 4 May 1945.

The caveats are wisely highlighted by avm228. There is a medal record for the KOYLI man (Sheffield) but it is for the General Service Medal with clasp "Iraq" which was awarded for service there in 1919/1920 not 1914-1918.  Although when he died in 1945 he was serving in the Royal Artillery, he would have retained his post 1920 KOYLI number.

(Academic if this is not the man!)

I will get back to his grandson and get him to recheck.
He did say Edward was 14 when he joined up.
