Help needed with burial query please? SOLVED-THANK YOU

Hello all,
It's been a while since I've posted here. I'm wondering if anyone can help me find out where Ellen Louisa Lambert is buried please? She died on 16th October 1883, her address was Cobden Grove in the district of Wortley,Leeds. She died in childbirth so I wonder if the baby was buried with her?.Husband was Robert but he was buried at Beckett St Cemetery Leeds 1919.

Is it certain the baby died too?
If it died at birth it was most common for the baby to be buried in the mother’s arms .
The baby could have survived just past the mother’s funeral so there would have to be a funeral for it but depending on their financial circumstances
the mother may have been buried in a communal grave and so the baby
 also....
There are quite a few possibilities.

Hi Susan

Ellen Louisa Lambert was buried at New Farnley Cemetery on 20 Oct 1883.  Grave no I 408.

There are 8 other seemingly unrelated people in the grave.  Her baby is not mentioned.

Thank you so much for your responses, I am very grateful.
As Pauline has managed to give me the information before I had chance to respond, my query is now solved.(I have no info as to whether the baby survived very long)

Hi Susan

Have you had a look on Freebmd or the GRO index for the baby?  If the baby had lived any time at all, i would imagine there would have been a birth and a death registration in the same quarter.

Edit: Just had a look, no Lambert baby deaths in Leeds area at age 0, maybe Ellen died before the baby was delivered.

Had searched for a baby but no luck. As you say it may have died before birth, but I would have thought it would be buried with Ellen.Not to worry.

Hi Susan,

It’s very possible the baby lived a bit longer.  Have you tried searching on GRO.gov.uk, using mother’s maiden name will narrow down results, use 9b in the Vol box instead of place name, this would catch all the reg districts in the Leeds area.
