William Webster b 1782 or 1788 in Kirkby Malham
« on: Friday 05 April 19 18:05 BST (UK) »
Sorry to be a pest again. Trying to find parents, or siblings, for William Webster. He married Dorothy Heseltine in 1815 in Aysgarth. He turns up again in the 1851 census, as a widower, living with daughter and g.daughter, in Newbiggin, Aysgarth. I can follow the family from the marriage of Dorothy & William onwards. Just like to find William's family, prior to his marriage. Is this possible. Any help would be appreciated.

I have seen William Webster born 1779 in Carperby, North of Aysgarth and also William Webster born 1880 at West Burton, South of Aysgarth. Parents Nancy & James. I still think he was born in Kirkby Malham/Malham. Thank you.

The William Webster who married Dolly Heseltine April 10th 1815 at Aysgarth was buried Sept 18th 1867 at Aysgarth aged 85.

His birth would therefore be c 1782 and was at Malham.

I have his parents as Matthew Webster and Elizabeth Tomlinson who married at Aysgarth Oct 3rd 1765.

Dorothy (Dolly) Heseltine was bap Jan 11th 1791 at Aysgarth and was buried Feb 4th 1837 aged 46.
She was dau of Matthew Heseltine and Martha Drummond who married at Aysgarth July 19th 1790.

Thank you Daniel. I had found the marriage details for Matthew Webster, b. 1742, who married Elizabeth Tomlinson at Aysgarth in 1765.  They had a son called William who was born in Carperby, Near Aysgarth in 1776, along with other children. I had discarded this family, as the dates did not match up to the William who was born in Kirkby Malham.

The William Webster bap April 19th 1779 was buried April 21st 1779 son of Matthew and Elizabeth of Carperby.
I have then a second William born c 1782 at Malham.
But I do not have a bap for him and it is quite some time since I recorded this information.
I will dig out my files and see if anything else comes up and I will also ask my fellow Heseltine researchers if they can help.

I am sure it is the William born Kirkby Malham in 1782 that then married Dorothy in 1815. If you look at the 1851 census, William is a widower, living with his daughter and grand daughter. William is shown as born in 1788, in Malham.  I am not sure where the church records are for Malham, i.e. are they in Skipton, or ??.
