The 1911 Census gives EDITH LEWIS as the sixth of seven children of George and Annie Lewis  living at 18 Union Street Long Eaton...........Her birth given as "about" 5 years...........George was  Railway Guard from Gloucestershire and his wife Annie was from lancashire..I suggest the work on the railway may have brought them to long Eaton...good luck..Derek
Willing to research Derbyshire ancestors (free of charge) have a large number of derbyshire parish records. and access to many others including full Census including 1911....

Hi Derbysderek,

Thank you for your post! Unfortunately, that's a different family. Edith Lewis was living in Dudley with her Mother, Alice, and siblings in 1911, so I'm still unsure whey they moved!

I've since found out that Alice was married twice after Edith's father died in 1911, which could have something to do with the moving around, perhaps for job purposes too.
