Gledhill - Ripponden, Y'shire West Riding

Hi,

Trying to get info on forebears of Jonathon Gledhill, baptised Ripponden 25/12/1795, son of John Gledhill (a weaver) mother's name unknown, resident of Barkisland. I can't find any info on father John Gledhill at all and this my current roadblock. There are a number of Gledhill websites which I've looked through but none of the trees contain this part of the clan.
Can anyone out there help at all?

Did you try to find other sibling(s) for Jonathan?
Was this a baptism record, if so, where did it take place? St Bart's?

Which sites/churches did you check for marriage(s) and burials of John Gledhill?

An Ancestry tree has identified him as John Gledhill bpt 12 May 1762 Elland, mar Susannah Newsome 2 Oct 1786 Batley. I have no idea whether this is accurate or not.

But I have a Telemachus GLEDHILL a grocer in Northowram who was bapt 29 Nov 1778 s/o James & Sarah GLEDDEL. There are many other instances of that latter spelling, so take care to check out spellings other than Gledhill.  ('Telemachus' is not a forename one comes across often - but it is a real 'un!)

It was St.Barts that he was christened,there seem to be another couple of Johns christening children there around the same time.
