Joseph Mateer? im unsure

Hi all, im trying to trace my irish ancestry. have come across what has been transcribed as joseph mateer but that isnt what it looks in the 1911 census. unable to find any other documents/information regarding a jospeh either. anyone got any ideas

The surname definitely looks like Mateer but the forename seems to end in “osh”?

no only on the 1911 irish census. its his first name i cannot make out. it is transcribed as joseph but it doesnt look like it to me.

ok no worries - thanks!! the 1911 census doesnt make alot of sense to me in general to be fair lol. i cant find any other record for a joseph mateer anywhere. no birth record etc, only on other trees in ancestry. i have also come across a john on other trees born 2 years after joseph but again no records

possibly, will have a look. im not sure who is mother is as she isnt on 1911 census and his fathers wife catherine died before josephs birth date. but will look into it

As the children are Eliza's grandchildren it's possible not all of them are Edwards.
Do you know any of Edward's siblings.
A Sarah Mateer had a male child in March 1909.

Was Edward's wife Catherine Mulholland, late Gillespie?
