I've ordered a copy of his Death Certificate - if it seems his death was as a result of his war service, I'll submit him to the CWGC.

I'm wondering if there was a bit of a mix up over records, and some info for a Charles, a tailor, son of a Henry,  and those of Edward Charles David known as Charles Edward David, son of Charles and Susanah, got confused, thus alterations made etc.

Another "mystery" is his address on discharge of 55 Freeman St, Coventry.  That address also appears on the records of 2nd Lt John Wesley Edwards, MC - I wonder why?

Friend of a friend who said he'd put them up while they got themselves sorted?

55 Freeman Street was the Edwards family home ( various newspaper reports, May and June 1918 re presentation of the MC to the lieutenant's father).

Shaun: I have cuttings from the Dudley Herald of 17.11 and 1.12.17, and 8.6.18 re 2nd Lt Edwards.  If you have any others, I'd love to scrounge them from you!

Just received the Death Cert - it does not state that his illness was due to his military service, so he is correctly not recorded by the CWGC (although he is on our war memorial....).

A munitions worker, death was due to acute pneumonia; he died at 10 New King St, Dudley and his widow, Mrs E J Philpot, was in attendance.
