Now as Daniel Porcelli was also a Provisions Dealer ...   :-\

Can you find him in any directories after 1911, Jon?

Hi
I haven't found any yet!
On the baptisms, there were some more after Arthur, the last I can see is Beatrice May, born 1 May 1918, bap 15 May 1918 at Liverpool, St Martin-In-The-Fields.
On which it says parents Charles + Emily, 41 Athol Street, General Dealer.
Emily Nicholls is indexed at that address in 1920, and I can go back to Autumn 1919 when she is again the only person listed at 41 Athol (none in the Division 2 voters either)
So all very intriguing!
John

Looking at burial records, Daniel is buried in the Porcelli family grave and his wife Mary/Maria is too.
He and his wife  are together in 1911.
Rose Hannah is still at King Street in 1938 - a draper.

Good Morning Fellow Rootschatters,
Wow ...so much information to digest. Yes that would be my father at school in Tuebrook.
I didn,t mention that the family surname was previously Porcelli as I wasn,t sure if it was true or not. When I stayed with my aunt (Ruth)in Birmingham in the 1980,s, she told me that was what our surname should be Porcelli, but she wasn,t sure why it was changed. She claimed it was Porcelli or Parcelli. However looking into it I found the surname could be spelt as Piscelli,Pacelli,Passali,Porcelli,Piselli and Pisselli.
I did find a Porcelli family (who owned a grocers) in Liverpool, in one of the Census, however none of the names of the children rang any bells, so I dismissed it.
Rumor or fact??? My DNA on Anc showed 11 percent Italian, however when I updated it recently it showed 4 percent. Questionable....If my paternal grandfather was Italian, I would have thought the percentage would be higher.
Kind Regards, Kim

Just a quick reply to Heywood,

I don,t recognise the names James & Roseanna, nor Ambrose.

My dad may have been in Montreal in 1931. He did not speak at all about his past. I know from his eulogy that he was serving in the British Army in India at 17. He was in the RAF during WW2, as an observer in fighter aircraft. Again....I don,t know how much is fact or fiction.

In the 1881 & 1901 Census, lived a Joseph & Elizabeth Nicholls at 15 King Street. Relation somehow?

Lastly, I came across an old note I had written many years ago with the name Daniel Francis Porcelli on it, and his father being called Angelo. Maybe the same Daniel?

Kind regards, Kim

You have missed Beatrice M. born 1918.

Emily and some of her children were living in Birmingham in 1939.

Hi Debra,

We all just called her 'May'. I never knew her name was Beatrice. My father, Arthur, even called her May. Perhaps she didn,t like her first name.
It definitely looks like that,s her though on the Baptism record. She married a man called Tom (Thomas?). That,s all I know about her.

I only met Ruth, Marie/Maree and May (Beatrice). The daughters all lived in Birmingham in the 1980,s.
I wish I had asked more questions about the family. Was their dad Charles Nicholls or Daniel Porcelli? I wonder if people could just change their name or just start using a different name?
Food for thought.

Is this your father?
Arthur Nicholls 17 yrs arriving Montreal 7th December 1931? His address is 30 Brookland Road, Stoneycroft, Liverpool.

I am seeing Arthur departing Liverpool for Halifax in July 1930 on the Arabic, address 50 Chester Road, Tuebrook, and then arriving back in Liverpool from Montreal in Dec 1931 on the Antonia with his address as 30 Brookland Road, Stoneycroft, Liverpool.

His departure in 1930 shows him as part of a group of British Immigration and Colonization Association boys.
