I am the son of Heidi Underhill, daughter of Joan Pugh, daughter of John H Pugh and Dorothy Weaver. I may be able to help with some questions as well.

Thank you for the feedback, since my post (4 years ago) I have been working with The Shropshire Family History Society who have helped to confirm much and help me make amendments to my original post which may be useful to others looking at Pugh's in Bishops Castle.

I have attached both a visual and text file listing all church record data associated to 4 generations of my Pugh family up to and including my ancestor who departed Shropshire and ending up in South Yorkshire.

Gen 1: Humphrey Pugh (b. abt.1744 - d.1808, bur.07 Jan 1808)
Gen 2: Walter Pugh (b. 1767, c.25 Feb 1767 - d.1850, bur.14 Jan 1850)
Gen 3: Humphrey Pugh (b. 1803, c.08 Apr 1803 - d.1850, bur.14 Jan 1850)
 > Walter Pugh (b.1767) had 2 sons he named Humphrey, another baptised 10 Mar 1798 died in infancy and was burried on 14 Mar 1798
Gen 4: Walter Pugh (b. 1835, c.10 May 1835 - d.31 Dec 1909, bur.04 Jan 1910 in Sheffield)

I am still looking for the elusive ancestor that was born in Wales - If anyone can shed light on either the parentage of, or more information on Humphrey Pugh who (based upon documents I have) was born about 1744 (but exactly when or where I don't know) he was married to Elizabeth Pugh (nee Pugh) on 1 June 1764 at St John the Baptist Church, Bishop's Castle where he was also buried on 14 Jan 1850.

What's the source/provenance of "your" Humphrey's 1744 year of birth?

Not many Humphrey Pugh baptism's in the frame - have identified 4 on my first pass
16 Sep 1731, Llandrinio, parents Humphrey and Jane (25)
28 Nov 1735, Dolgellau, parents John and Mary (55)
20 Mar 1736/37, Carno, father Thomas, mother not named (28)
27 Jan 1744, Dolgellau, parents Owen and Mary, father a joiner (55)

Figure in brackets is distance to Bishop's Castle in miles.

The Dolgellau couple may be the same set
