Effective & Posted Unit strength

Hi all,
I'm looking at some RAF records, and have seen figures for Effective strength of Unit, and Posted strength of Unit. What do these terms mean? Is Effective strength simply those personnel who aren't sick/or on leave?
Thanks for any help.

Effective Strength of Unit - all personnel who are available to work on a given day.
Posted Strength of Unit - all personnel that are posted to that unit even if they are not available to work (i.e sick, AWOL, in detention, etc.).

The difference between the two strengths often known as the SLL (sick lame and lazy)
