Scottish Census 1911
« on: Friday 18 January 19 17:00 GMT (UK) »
Hiya

It's just a quick query I have regarding the 1911 Scottish Census which is currently only available as pay per view on Scotland's People.

When the next census 1921 becomes available, will the 1911 indexes become available on other sites such as Ancestry, the way the older censuses currently are?

You should direct that question to Scotland's People, because they are the only people who can decide whether or not to allow commercial web sites to use their data.

The indexes on Scotland's People are of course already free to use. It's only if you want to view an original certificate that you need to pay.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Thanks for replying. I'll send an email to Scotland's People.
