Obit for G.E. says he came to Cheltenham in 1838 from Tewkesbury.

that had struck me too that he could have fathered the children out of wedlock and different names were used...maybe he was not free to marry her?  Anything is possible.  London is an oddity through and might suggest running away to get married if we not reading too deep into it.   Can't see him obviously in 1841 ..there are that many George Williams'

He’s definitely in Cheltenham by June 1839 (letter to the editor)

Added ..gives address as 2 North Parade.

newspaper report from 1 July 1841 gives his address as 2 North Parade.  Will have a look on 1841 for that address and see what it turns up....funny how the editor of the newspaper is called Mr Cox...
