Ruth E Ryland Bigglewade
« on: Sunday 09 December 18 17:33 GMT (UK) »
Hi
Could someone check at which church my GGG grandmother Ruth E Ryland from Biggleswade was married from, in Biggleswade, Beds.
She married William Mumford from London in June (?) 1851.

I would be grateful to know William's father's name and occupation also.

Thanks
Richard

These are all the areas covered by the Biggleswade RD.  Where was she living on the 1851 census?

Reason for asking re 1851 address was to try and pinpoint the likeliest church.  Marriage was June qtr 1851

It's the very last page in Biggleswade for that quarter. That, and the fact that it's not on FamilySearch, makes it certain that it's either a non-conformist church or, more likely, Biggleswade Register Office.

Thanks everyone.

I was hoping by finding which church  I could find the marriage entry and get William's father name and occupation . Non conformist could be right for the Rylands.
I believe William's fathers name might be John and possibly he was a lace merchant which William became (I have tracked this pathway) but would like it confirmed or not about his father.

In 1841 looks like William was working for a draper also in Newport Pagnell.

Hi again, re John Mumford, could he have had a son James who married an Elizabeth Read on 3rd Sept 1850 City of London, St Giles Without Cripplegate as in 1851 a James Mumford occ Lace Merchant aged 33 b London is with an Elizabeth aged 27
Census ref HO107/1505/575/4

EDIT both James & William had parents John & Christiana, William baptised at St Alban, Wood Street approx 1/3rd of a  mile from Ironmonger Lane
Does not answer marriage of William but could be a clue.
