Hello Cork Board. I have been transcribing letters for the letters1916 web site and came across very interesting letters regarding an Ellen Duggan who would have been about 60 on her death in the Fermoy hospital in 1916. The letters detail how she was buried in unconsecrated ground initially as her 'drunken son' would take no responsibility for her body. Her other son Frank Duggan who was living in America at the time wrote to the Canon and requested that her body be reburied in the Mitchelstown Parish graveyard. Amazing resource for the right family under the heading Letter from Rev. J.C. Abbott, 27 May 1916 on the letters1916 web site. Hope this helps someone.
