Some of those other photographs I had seen previously.
The photograph that I posted had some significance to local history in Dunedin, New Zealand and events a few weeks later in the sub Antarctic, Auckland Islands about the same time that WW2 broke out. The Erlangen made a run for Chile (including under sail) before rounding Cape Horn and being caught by the Royal Navy in 1941. The vessel was then scuttled off the River Plate near Uruguay and Argentina.
It is the only known photograph taken of the Erlangen either entering or leaving Dunedin Harbour. The original is long gone .. lost .. and I was hoping to have this restored as best as possible.
