Hi Alan,

I too could send numerous certs. for 1855 i.e. all 3 - Births/Marriages/Deaths.

Forfarian forgot to mention this was the one & only yr of Statutory Registrations where the documents actually covered 2 pages as opposed to certs. we're used to on 1 page & well worth looking at as they're rare in most people's trees.

I just happen to have possibly more than most from collecting info. for various trees in my main area of interest?

alan14578, you might like to study the details in https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/guides/statutory-register-births, in particular those relating to the additional information collected in 1855 only.

There are similar descriptions of other types of certificate at Scotland's People.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
