I merely said that I was concerned  I know quite a bit about research since I've only been doing it since 1970 but unfortunately with all the wonders of the internet it is all too easy to 'trace' your family in a very short time. From your posts on this thread there was no way of knowing anything other than you've been doing it a few months and you've gotten back to 1700s.

Exactly you made a judgement based on nothing, you said that you were concerned but it came across as an insult to my ability . I only discovered this site yesterday and when i said i had only been researching for a couple of months I meant consistently. I have been looking into my family tree on and off for the last 30+ years.
Maybe in future you could research the person by asking them a few questions before criticising and making your own assumptions. I too come from the pre internet generation, having been born in 71, please do not assume that my research relies on the internet.

If you are not doing already, make sure where you can to use a wildcard as Kirkpatrick and Kilpatrick are common spelling variants for the surname (such as Ki*patrick).
