Merchant Mariner help deciphering record

My ancestor is on a census as a Master Mariner he was born 1812 and died in 1859. I have found this record but none of the columns have headings and numbers that could be dates don't make much sense unless he was on different ships in different ports at the same time! I'm a bit bamboozled, any ideas?

There’s a book called something like My Ancestor was a Merchant Seaman, that explains those columns.

I am thinking that each line is for a different person named John Robertson, with their ticket numbers on the left, and the place names are their birthplaces.

But if you are looking for a Master Mariner, the seamen's records in BT112 may not be the best place to look.

I did wonder that, the trans script shoed date and place of birth for my John Robertson. Which was Rye, in which case it looks like one years sailings. Wonder where the rest are? maybe not transcribed yet.

In the image that you have posted, I cannot read the details. I'm pretty sure that I can explain the notations, but I want to see them clearly first. Though I'm on the road right now, I know that I have some printout pages from BT 112 in my "samples" book at home. If no one else has answered you before then, I'll post again next week after checking my printouts.
