Hi.
Can anyone tell me how to find out about this man.
All it says in the archives is that he is the father of William who was born in 1700.

But you must have got to him somehow? What archives? What document are you looking at?
In what context has he come up? Is he a sibling of someone you are tracing or a possible parent?
You need to give us some more info please.

Hi,
I was looking for William a few months ago in Yorkshire archives.
It just said William son of James.
William was born in1700.
He was baptised at St. Peters in Leeds
The family lived at Oulton near Leeds
