Edited to add....there is a George Brewer age 11 (so b. 1830ish) living with John in 1841.

That looks likely. Looking through the records I've already transcribed, there are quite a few Gentrys in Purleigh. Unfortunately though, no marriage of a John Gentry to compare the signatures.
