Hi there, thanks for the message. I will tell you what I know. My gtgtgt grandmother was Elizabeth northey and her father was John northey married to Mary ferris. Elizabeth married george blake in Tavistock in 1853 ish. John northey died young, at a guess, when Mary was pregnant or when Elizabeth was a baby. He was a tin miner and may have been killed in mine. Mary then married Waterfield and had children with him.
Do you have a family tree somewhere?? Here's my email elainegray2010@hotmail.co.uk, I have a name that shows up and I can't remember it and will get back to you with it and hopefully it might mean something to you. I have a tree on my heritage you are welcome to see but this Tavistock side is still a bit of a mystery to me.
Regards, Elaine

Elizabeth married george blake in Tavistock in 1853 ish.

Elizabeth Northey’s marriage to George Blake was 20 December 1851.

The banns & marriage registers don’t indicate that she was a minor (under 21), but she would have been if her age of 29 in the 1861 census is correct.

Re the name I couldn't remember, it was Doidge, I've checked old notes and messages and a John northey married a Jane Doidge in 1825, there was an Elizabeth Doidge northey born abt the same time as my Elizabeth, I seem to have dismissed Elizabeth Doidge northey as she seems to appear in a later census as unmarried. Now, strangely enough, one of the children from Mary northey née ferris second marriage to Waterfield had Doidge as a middle name. So where does Doidge fit into both these Elizabeth's.??? I'm sure I've got this right. Could the Doidge connection be with the Waterfields????

Wow, now why on earth did I dismiss her, will have to look at that again. I'm sure I found an Elizabeth, same age, living with Doidge couple in a census and they were grandparents. I have an Elizabeth northey in the 1851 census living with the Richards and she is a niece, born Tavistock, date fits. Can't remember the first name, but male Richards is a witness to marr to George blake. I wondered if Elizabeth didn't live with her mother when she remarried. Must revisit this now as I'll not be content until I've solved it!! Thank you
