From the UK-BMD newsletter:

"Important Notice

The Lancashire Registration District is currently experience an abnormally high demand for certificate, which in part is due to the merger of a number of registration districts. The Registrar staff are working through the orders as quickly as possible but would ask the applicant to be patient. It would help the staff if applications for historic certificates were accompanied by the local reference that can be obtained for www.lancashirebmd.org.uk"

The above notice has been agreed with the Certificate Manager, Lancashire Registration District. The notice has also been placed on the LancashireBMD website at: http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/lancashirerd.htm

Contrary to previous messages on this list the Lancashire Registration District have never stopped issuing family history certificates but they would ask applicants to be patient whilst they clear outstanding orders.

Hi

There has been in the past a number of enquiries as to when Bolton RD will
be added to LancashireBMD. I am pleased to report that a project is now
under way and the processing of the first data (death indexes) is well in
hand. The project will soon be extended into marriages and births. I hope
that the first data will be posted to the site later this year.

Forgive me if this has been posted before.

The UKBDM site is conducting an on line survey to assess interest on the use of scanned images on line.

Just hit the symbol UKBDM from, say the Lancashire BDM, to get to the site, which gives you all the counties with on line searches and the survey.
