Abercynon New Cemetery

I have just found out that my G/Grandfather Edward Jenkins was buried in Abercynon New Cemetery 14.6.1910  from the newspaper. Have found a few cemetery's around Abercynon, does any know which one this is?

Hi Snow
here is another article in Welsh Newspapers Online which talks about the funeral of an engine driver in 1904 at New Cemetery Abercynon. The article talks about a train being laid on from Aberdare to Abercynon to allow employees of the company to attend the funeral. So people alighted at Abercynon Station as the nearest point to walk to the cemetery.
So would that mean they would walk back to the cemetery west of Abercynon sports centre?

The one on cemetery road (yes the one west of the leisure centre) opened in 1901 so seems logical it would have been the 'new cemetery' still in 1904/1910

Thanks MarMnkly and Iolaus thought it might be the one in cemetery Road but the new bit confused me. I hope to have a holiday in Wales next year so will make a visit to the area.

St Cynons cemetary is older I believe and is near Abercynon (I think officially it's quakers yard or treharris) but it wouldn't surprise me if that wasn't the 'old' cemetery

Yes, St Cynons church has gone (and the school) but the graveyard is still there at Fiddlers Elbow. Here is an old image
