Hi
My great grandfather went to live and work in South Africa in 1901. Shipping records and 1901 UK Census show he was a clerk. It appears he was living in or near Ladysmith in 1907. While he remained in SA till round about 1910, he had a son born in Scotland in 1909 (his wife returned to the UK for the birth). His son's birth certificate stated that his father was a railway clerk. From this I assume he was working in Natal circa 1909 as a railway clerk. My question is about whether or not any employment records exist from that time for railway companies in Natal and if so are they accessible to the likes of myself carrying out family research?
Thanks
Paul
