Turner Memorial Home in Liverpool
« on: Tuesday 31 July 18 20:31 BST (UK) »
In 1939, my Great Uncle, Arthur Dunstan Kitto was at the Turner Memorial Home, Dingle Head, Liverpool.

On the 1939 Register it lists him as a Post Office Clerk. However, a lot of the men are listed as Cripple or Mentally deficient.  Alongside columns headed Birth date, M/F etc. there is also a column headed S, M, W or D.

Has anyone any idea what these letters stand for ?

Thanks

Freddy

What about Single, Married, Widowed, Divorced? I could be way off the mark but worth a punt.

I thought the same.
The home is still going, though with a changed title.

How clever !  Just never thought of something so simple!  Yes, I am sure that is correct. My Great Uncle has an S beside his name and he was single.Thank you very much.

There is another column showing O,V, S, P or I at the top.  Everyone is listed as P.   Any ideas on that one?

Guessing that P would be for Patient but no idea on the rest. V could be Visitor I suppose.
