I have now traced the family as far back as a marriage record for John Lynch and Margaret Harkins for. 1852 in All Saints church Taughboyne. There don't seem to be any records for before that date. Is that as far as I am likely to get?

Not what you are looking for and by now you may have found this resource but Hugh Lynch who died 26 Feb.1919 was buried in Derry City Cemetery. Their records have always been fantastic and are now online. Hugh's birthplace given as Raphoe and parents as John and Margaret Lynch.
Plot is MD941- listed is also Isabella Lynch died 1924, Frances A. Lynch died 1938, Margaret Lynch died 1941 and Margaret Lynch died 1946.
