Does anyone know if the above authors's book are still in print, and if so, where to buy. In particular I am interested in 'The Moons of Amounderness', and I think he also wrote a history of Kirkham. (Moon is a surname here, it's not a book about lunar activity!

many thanks

Bowskill/Bouskill - Settle/Liverpool
Gidman - Astbury/Liverpool
O'Neill - Belfast, Antrim/Liverpool
Shaw - Belfast
Smith - Lanarkshire/Belfast

There's a list of his published titles here:

Click on a book title to see in which libraries it may be found.

Thanks KGarrard and Barbara. I have 2 Moon lines from Kirkham parish. ( there were a lot of Moons in Kirkham.) I recently read excerpts online from " Kirkham in Amounderness - the story of a Lancashire community",  the other book referred to by zannette.

I was interested to see "The Clifton Papers" on that list found by KGarrard. They include a 16thC rental roll for the Manor of Lytham when it was owned by the Molyneux family. One tenant on the roll was the earliest mention of another of my families.

Many thanks for your input. Unfortunately I cannot get to any library as I live in Greece. (No, they don't actually have public libraries here - no money). I was hoping I could locate a 2nd hand copy. Had a look on ebay but nothing there.

all the best

If you could locate the publisher (or their modern-day equivalent) maybe they might have a dusty copy somewhere?

Or try 2nd-hand book dealers?

Contact Lancashire Family History & Heraldry Society. A member is a dealer in second-hand and antiquarian books. When he compiles a new catalogue he puts a link on LFH&HS forum. He probably knows the book. If someone wants a certain book he'll try and find a copy.

I read bits of the book about Kirkham on Ancestry I think.
Have you heard of the Internet Archive? It has texts of some out of print books. I found Catholic Record Society journals from 100 years ago which contained transcripts of R.C. registers. One of my Moon lines accounted for a large proportion of entries at one chapel.
There's another website which publishes texts of old books. It's a subscription site.
