Sittingbourne Burial

My 2x gt gf died in Sittingbourne in 1902.  We will be visiting Kent soon and I would really like to locate his grave.  I can't find anything online to indicate where he was buried so I guess the main cemetery (Bell Rd?).  Has anyone any advice about visiting?  Is there an office where they might look up a location for me (as other cemeteries have for me in the past).  Thanks

www.findmypast.co.uk list 43 burials there in 1902, so it might be worth searching the index.

When you visit Sittingbourne the Public Library hold 3 complete transcription books of all burials in the 3 different sections of the Cemetery. In them The names are indexed and plot numbers listed along with inscriptions if any of all the burials from when it opened.The books are in the reference section with census transcripts and a lot of other historical data for the town. If you cant find the books the librarians will help you. If you PM me his name age etc. I will have a look for you when I am in town.Save you wasting time if he is not there.

We went to Sittingbourne library today and had a look at the indexes mentioned but couldn't find William and Mary Ann Mitchell. I wonder where they were buried. :/

I checked up in the library today,in case you had missed anything. As William and Mary were both residents of Murston on the eastern edge of Sittingbourne they were most probably buried in the village churchyard. Unfortunately the records on Micro film only come upto the late 1800,s.The actual records are held at the Kent History centre.
