I can also trace my descendants back to a Mary Courage who married William Trevithick 3/8/1763 in Sithney, Cornwall. But recently I noticed there were two Mary Courages married that year. The other married John Hodge (from Wendron) on the 10/3/1783 in Constantine. Pierre (then going by the name Peter) is shown as a witness as the Constantine wedding. And as a point of interest John Hodge was a witness at the Trevithick wedding.
From what I can see Pierre married Mary Rowling in Budock on 16/1/1762 and had three possibly six children Mary (b.1763), William Rowling (b.1766, m Elizabeth Powell 1786), Peter (d.1789 aged 19),John(m. Anne Eddy 1798), Joan (m. Thomas Hodge 1798) and Johanna (m. Samuel Pollard 1788) all in or around Constantine and spelling Courage with a double 'rr' and other variations.
However the marriage of Mary in Sithney in 1783 and Simon in Helston in 1797 may be from another family. Witnesses at Simon's wedding to Mary Eva were John and Arundell Pryor and William Trevithick's mother was a Charity Prior which I thought tied these two together.
So I wondered if there was any other evidence of more than one family. Did Pierre have a POW brother?
