1841 Cheltenham look up please. WASLEY
« on: Tuesday 09 August 05 09:40 BST (UK) »
Please is there some kind person who could look up William Wasley and his wife Mary for me.  In the 1851 census he was described as a haulier/carrier living at 241? High St, Cheltenham and was born at Elmstone Hardwick around 1780.

I would also be grateful if I could have details of his younger brother Thomas and his wife Mary, who was also born in Hardwick around 1787, who may also have been a carrier living in High Street.  Many thanks.

Thanks, Sue.  I didn't know that Thomas had those 2 children, so that's a great help.  Was there any sign of brother William's household?

Hi allibaker
Yes I have seen this marriage, but in Familysearch the spelling in Ebsworth.  Where did you find your entry?  Perhaps I'm wrong.  I hadn't entered this marriage on my family tree before, because there was more than 1 William Wasley in Cheltenham.  I think this is almost certainly our's though. Thanks for the info.
Best wishes

Hi Susan,
Thanks for the info. I have just looked at the Elmstone Hardwicke site and found a sibling I didn't know existed, so that was very helpful.  Thank you

The William Wasley who married Mary Ebsworth in 1809 were great x 4 grandparents of mine.
In 1841 William and Mary lived at Gloucester Road, Cheltenham where William was a haulier.
William died in 1844 and cannot, therefore, be the person that Annmarg describes living at High Street Cheltenham in 1851.

Oops sorry, it was his brother Thomas who was living in High St in 1851, as William did indeed die in 1844.  I did manage to find William in 1841 but he was indexed as "Wasty" which was why I couldn't find him.  William is my husband's 3x gt grandfather.
