I'm trying to find the parents of my gg grandfather George Evans by looking through baptism records hoping to find a connection of any(!) sort.
A possible is George EVANS bp 14 Jan 1806 in Steynton Parish of John and Mary EVANS.
The previous entry is John EVANS bp 14 Jan 1806 in Steynton Parish publickly(sic) of John and Mary.
In 1807 I found
Daniel privately bp 26 Apr 1794 and publicly bp 19 Jan 1807 in Steynton Parish of John and Mary.
The next entry is Enoch Davis(sic) bp19 Jan 1807 in Steynton Parish of John and Mary.
What is significant about the terms 'publickly' and 'privately'?

I think a private baptism could be in your home if the baby was poorly and not expected to survive.

Thanks. I assumed a private baptism was either a private baptism involving payment or as you say, at home due to the poor health of the child.
I assume therefore that Daniel was in a poor state of health after his birth and was given a private baptism, but was given a 'proper' baptism later?
Why was the singular team publicly specifically used for John? The term was not used elsewhere in this way?
