Hi,
I'm looking for any detail on where a Fitzgerald family lived near Killarney, Kerry around 1830.
The detail I have from New South Wales records is:
Father Garrett FITZGERALD (birth & death unknown)
Mother Honora FLAHIVE (birth & death unknown)
Child Ellen born Kerry IRE 1828-29
Child Garrett born Killarney IRE 1830-31
Child John born Kerry IRE 1830-31
Son Garrett migrated to AUS in the 1850's at his own expense.
In 1861, Garrett sponsored John & Ellen to migrate as government "Assisted Immigrants".
John migrated in 1862 and Ellen (with her husband John NAUGHNANE) in 1863.
While their recorded address was just "Ireland", their "referee of character" was:
The Rev'd. John Fitzgerald DAY
Beaufort, near Killarney
In 1861, Garrett had also sponsored Honora Connor (aged 13, address "Ireland") but she did not migrate.
In 1864, his brother John re-sponsored Honora (aged 17, address "Firies, Killarney, Co. Kerry") with
character referee being "Parish Priest, Firies, Co. Kerry". Honora migrated in 1865.
I hope this information will helpt to locate the Fitzgerald family but understand that the required historical records may not be available.
Regards,
AUS-Mike
