Unwin from Impington Cambs
« on: Saturday 31 July 04 21:50 BST (UK) »
This is my first posting on this site.

Is anyone else researching the above ?

My line is back to Nathanial Unwin born c1781, through Timothy Unwin christened 1818 and my great grand mother Martha Unwin christened 1842. Does anyone know anything about their siblings ?

Looking forward to making some contacts through this site, I have been very lucky in the past !

Gilld :)

Hi Gilld,
Have you tried this site It has searchable databases so may provide some clues. Martha is listed on the 1851 census index and the film number is given so you could identify her siblings...or you could ask for a look-up!
Regards, Frances

Thanks Frances, I have found that my searches in 'Cambs' have been very rewarding, lots of free info, unlike some counties !!!!

I have already found two of my grand mother's brothers relation, just hoping to find some more so that we can work together.

Are you still looking?

I live in Impington - the Unwins Seed nursery is still in the village (though there have been threats to close it this year), and there are still Unwin family members around, if you are connected to them? If you want, I could try to find a phone number or address for the village history society, who would probably have more concrete details of the family.

Thank you Liz

I don't think my immediate family are linked to the  Unwins Seeds although there will be a contact somewhere.

My Great grand mother was Martha Unwin b 1842
Her father was Timothy Unwin b1818 he married Sarah Ann Miller  from Histon

Timothy's father was Nathanial Unwin b1781  Impington

I have tracked through many of the brothers and sisters, but have not made contact with any of their descendants as yet

Just done a quick check and happened to come across a message on another genealogy forum from one of the Unwins in the village (I don't know him personally, but our children are in the same class at the village school!).

http://genforum.genealogy.com/unwin/messages/219.html

I don't know whether this leaflet might help? or if he knows anything else about his earlier family?

Of course you may already know about this.

Just to add that I looked on the actual census  Nathaniel is a Labourer

I found 5 children to Nathaniel and susan on the baptist record

James 1823
Martha 1815
Mary 1827 age 24 days at chr
Timothy  1818
William 1821

Couldn't find Timoth on the census and I presume Martha is married by now.

I found 2 possibles for william

Elizabeth Burn 40

Peter Burn 15
Mary Burn 10
Living Little Abington

William Unwin 20 Ag Lab Y
Elizabeth  "     20             N
Thomas    "       1             y

living high st, Milton

also on the same page I found  this family

Nathaniel Unwin  25  Ag Lab  y
Susan          "       25              y
William         "        3               y
