Would like any information on the Jericho Cottages (my GG Grandparents were livng there in 1841)

From the info in the 1841 census there is a list of Farms and Jericho is listed and the farmer was John McNeil.These cottages were just down from where the "Jericho Loch" is today.

I have heard the cottages went on fire in the early to mid 1960's.

Any information will be very much appreciated.

It looks like these are (or were) on the site of the cottages opposite Arnold Clarks showrooms on the A701 road, just south of Clarencefield Road junction. Here they are on an 1855 map.

Your gg-grandfather must have worked with mine who also was a stone-mason in the quarry in1841, though he lived in the village itself.

I assume my GG Grandfather worked at the Quarry. I know his son did. Imagine the remains of the cottages will still be there, after the fire in the mid early 60's. Would like to find out more about that.

From the URL the period appears to be 1848-1858. A John Macniel is listed

Very interesting. Yes, I notice John McNeil is mentioned - I believe he was the farmer and may have owned Jericho Farm.
