It doesn't match the rest of the d's on the end of other words, I agree with the mac or mc part.
All the bridal party signed with an x so that doesn't help matters either.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.  Your have certainly solved a few of my questions.

The first witness is definitely John in my opinion.  I am not sure about the Mc or Mac.  In all the other M's at the beginning of words there seems to be a little loop at the start of the M.  The first witness middle name or abbreviation comes from the bottom??  With regards the surname Donald appears to fit but perhaps it is Donale?  Given he was a convict and so was Catherine's father I think I will do a troll through the convict database to see if anything jumps out at me.
