Help identifying ww2 binoculars

Hi folks!

I've been passed down these binoculars today and my family believes my Great Grandfather took them from a German solider during WW2 but we have no real proof of that. Would anyone be able to identify these binoculars and help me out? thanks

It,s difficult to tell without knowing measurements, but these look more like opera glasses than field glasses (although there would be nothing to stop a person using them outside!

Do the eyepiece lenses detach? If so, are there any markings inside?

I wouldn't know how to detach them! Any tips?

Just figured it out and it has the word "Chevalier" and "Special" on them

A quick g00gle search suggests that Chevalier were around in the 19th century in Paris.

If your great grandfather took them from a German soldier, it is quite possible that the German soldier had looted them during the occupation of France.
