Hi Cyn, and welcome to Rootschat

Firstly you should obtain your father's birth certificate, which will confirm your grandparents names, and ensure that you are not tracing the wrong family :)

Free search for his birth at :

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

A John Henry Pugh is registered in the December Quarter for 1907 in Wirral, follow the links which explains how to obtain the birth certificate.

There are 2 Pugh families in Willaston on the 1901 Census, both have a Horace James Pugh, the most lightly candidate is this family

Arthur Pugh born abt 1900  in Willaston, Cheshire, England Son
Cyril Pugh born abt 1899  Willaston, Cheshire, England Son
Horace James Pugh born abt 1875  Willaston, Cheshire, England Head
Martha Pugh born abt 1878  Stapleford, Cheshire, England Wife

The 1901 Census is available, for a small fee at
http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

Good Luck
