The 1861 link posted by PaulineJ is not the right one.

Daughter Ann Maria aged 2 in 1851 is a servant as plain Ann in Marwood 1861 (12). as is son Walter (as Mires) also in Marwood.

Cannot see any obvious death for Charles Mars (variants) at all, nor any further trace of son John after 1851.

Mary Balmont (as written) bp.7/9/1823 Marwood, Devon dau. of George and Mary.

This is what i have so far from  my mothers list (sadly passed now so cannot ask her if they are for real)
great grandad Walter Mares- 1882 in charlestown devon married a sarah
great great grandad frederick mares 1856 in charles devon married Ann  1880
charles Mar aug 1814 married mary bament 1842 Barstable
william Mair marred Sarah 1774 marwood devon their kids walter charles ann maria and john according to the 1851 censor
I am just not so sure about the william

I am just not so sure about the william

I doubt that any 1774 marriage would be producing kids 40 years later (ie Charles in 1814).
Human biology being what it is, so William & Sarah should not be Charles' parents

the 1851 census kids are the offspring of CHARLES B 1814 and MARY b 1823

sorry should of been charles not william's offspring
