Margaret Manson/Robert Walker
« on: Sunday 07 August 05 01:10 BST (UK) »
Hello out there. This is a "He Done Her Wrong" story. Margaret Manson was a servant in the household of the Aberdour Walker Family. She begat a child ,Peter Walker born 28 Feb 1805 at Aberdour out of wedlock as Robert , the acknowledged father was already married to Margaret Grant and had already fathered several of his many children. Peter Walker was listed as the child, Peter's father but later changed to Robert. Robert is my gr gr gr grandfather and I admire his intestinal fortitude to admit and make amends. He donated a hundred pounds to poor of the Aberdour parish,a princely sum in those days. I have researched the Walker family but cannot find what happened to Margaret. I have suspect parents and suspect eventual marriage perhaps to John Joass. Am I on the right track? Can anyone help me?ndpaton

Hi ndpaton,
I am researching the family of a George and Janet (Connon) Walker around the Rosehearty district. Janet's mother was a Strachan and Aberdour would be close enough to be the connection I am looking for.

Dear Strachan, There could be a connection but I need dates to work from. The connection may be in the child George, born to parents James Walker and Christian Forbes.back in the 1740s/50s or it would be after the 1850s era to be a close connection. Send the dates. Regards Dell

Hi Dell
I have photos of George and Janet Walker (Janets mother was a Strachan) together with some of more immediate Strachan family. The photos were taken at what looks to be a Sunday visit to the Walkers home in the 1930's. No more detail (or dates) is available other than my grandfather was named James Walker Strachan. I am trying to trace living family in NE Scotland - with no success at this stage. I thought if the Walkers could be traced I may get a lead to closer family.
