Hi. Can anybody help!!!
Looking for birth place and parents of Arthur William Smith who i am told was born 13/7/1898.

Also told he served  in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers during WW1. He married Alice Edna Mapp , children were Arthur Ivy Olive and Rose. Arthur William Smith died in 1970. The family lived in Sale, Manchester. Thanks

The marriage certificate should name his father

Where did he die in 1970 please?  Have you found a death registration for him citing birthdate 13/7/1898?

arthur william smith died in bucklow, i found this in civil death index 1970,

he married alice edna mapp in bucklow, i found this in the civil marriage index

I should have said they lived all their married life in Sale. alice edna was born in eye herefordshire, but so far i have not found arthur william.
the closest i have got is a arthur william born wrexham wales 1898 but the birth month does not tie up with his death. i tied in wrexham as this is the head quarters of the royal welsh fusiliers who he served with in ww1

Sorry, but with a surname of Smith you really need that marriage certificate.

Freebmd shows 2 Arthur William Smith's whose births were registered in Sept qtr 1898
SMITH    Arthur William        Hartismere  4a   877

and this one in the following quarter
SMITH    Arthur William        Hackney    1b   432

Birth dates are not always reliable, they were not so important to people in those times.
