I found this after reading Ancestry faq's
Quote
"You may cancel a free trial anytime during the free trial period and incur no charge. For all initial purchases of subscriptions longer than one month, you may cancel during the first 30 days (calculated from the date of purchase plus the free trial period, if applicable) and receive a full refund. If the cancellation occurs after the first 30 days, you won’t be eligible for a refund. If you cancel your subscription but are not eligible for a refund, you’ll retain access to the subscription until it expires.
For renewals of subscriptions longer than one month, cancel within seven days of the renewal date to receive a full refund. No refund is available for monthly subscriptions.
For gift subscriptions, the refund period begins on the date of purchase."

I found on one occasion with Ancestry when I cancel a years subscription within a month of starting they cancel the whole year and fully refunded what I paided.

That is all well and good Rosie, but if I click on it. I am cancelling my sub. now and I do not want to do that

They have to let it run until the end of the subscription date as you've paid for that.

Yes, actually worked out well as I was able to take up another cheaper offer from Ancestry.

There's something very odd in the 1841 census.
At top right of each right-hand page there's a large number that I take to be the folio number.
Very often at top left of the left-hand page is the mirror image of a number 1 fewer.
I don't know how that comes about, but frequently Ancestry gives the lower number in its summary.  Can anyone tell me which is correct?

Yes:  every other page changes the Folio number -  so for instance, folio 45 covers pages 5 and 6, and then folio 46 covers pages 7 and 8.  The mirror image is just "bleed through".

Assume that the right-hand page with the "large number" is the beginning of that particular folio number, and it covers 2 pages.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thank you for the explanation, BumbleB.

What a way to run a railway, as my father would have said!

I suppose folio = foglio = feuille = sheet, but I feel a page number would have sufficed.

BumbleB, in your example, you say folio 45 covers pages 5 and 6, and then folio 46 covers pages 7 and 8.  So, if folio 44 covers pages 3 and 4, and before that folio 43 covers pages 1 and 2, how do folios before 42 fit into it all?
