I'm sure it's hypotensal - is there such a word rather than hypotensive.?

There most certainly is!    ;)

Thanks - Google kept changing it back to hypotensive  ::)

I agree Laennec's cirrhosis.

I can't read anything on the second line except ascites - and I think that belongs on the second line, not the third, as the writing is smaller than that on the 3rd line and sits above the line.

I think the third line starts, "Old cardiac ---" then who knows what?!

This is shockingly awful writing!

Anyway. Ascites means fluid in the abdominal cavity and you get that with chronic liver failure, so that would go with the cirrhosis. Portal obstruction may also refer to the liver failure - if you look at this

it explains more about this, and maybe that would then fit with the hyper-something on the second line?
Thank you for help!

The hepatitis C virus was not identified until 1989 :)

Don’t think we know the date of this document, but it looks older than that.

Tooki a copy of the death certificate with me today and showed it to the Drs and nurses.  None of them could read it!!

So what hope have we got?     ::) ::) ;)

Hi

fiona

That sounds a bit odd to me

- Cerebrovascular to do with the head, pleural to do with the lungs and ascites to do with the abdominal cavity.

Could be I suppose - but I don't think so.     :-\ :-\ :-\

Also I think it says Hypo rather than Hyper . . whatever it is.  Don't know though!!

Wiggy

I have consulted another nursing friend and she doesn't think  the bold bit is right either.  We agree that it sounds wrong.

I posted it to a doctors' website and lots of people tried to have a guess but it stumped us too.
A combination of the best efforts gives this:

1.   Laennec’s cirrhosis (2 weeks)
2.   Hypertensive aortic valve calcification – known 4 years
3.   Old cardiac –XX with ascites
