Can I ask where you picked those up from - I have been looking at shipping lists but couldn't find any for Matilda Tilt nor for the Sophie you suggest.

Thomas Phillips married Matilda Tilt in 1853 ref number 31750.

Thanks I have just found a Thomas Phillips who apparently arrived on a ship John ? looks like Burton which arrived in Sydney in 1844. However this Thomas Phillips was under hard labour in Victoria in 1847. So I am assuming he was a convict on the ship and then transferred from NSW to Victoria. His date of birth was written as 1817 which ties in with Thomas Crispin Phillips. Just currently cant find the ship of the same name arriving in Sydney.

Arrived in Melbourne per Blackwall, Dec. 1852.

TILL, Matilda, a shopwoman, born in Surrey, aged 33.
She was C of E and able to red and write. She was engaged to go to Mr and Mrs BROWN who lived at Prahran and her assignment was one year. She arrived with posting and was required to repay 23 pounds for her assistance.

The Church of England marriage of TILT and PHILLIPS took place at Christ Church St Kilda (Melbourne)
A suburb which almost adjoins Prahran.
