Thanks for all the help. Really I'd like to know who was the Thomas Bartley that married Margaret Plumb in 1834and where and when did he die. Did he die in Preston in 1835? The child of that marriage was Thomas Bartley Plumb, who is a direct ancestor of mine. Going up to the next generation is problematic. Thomas the father must have died shortly after his wedding, as in 1837 Margaret got remarried to Thomas Kent. One possible link could be the Francis Barkley/Bartley who married Mary Whiting and had Thomas Bartley in 1810. Another could be Samuel Bartley, married to Margaret Rigby who had a Thomas Bartley born in 1807.
